Iddy Iddy Bang Bang + Waaaaaaank

I got something out for Iddy Iddy Bang Bang. I like that event a lot because there's a reasonable but not too small word limit, the whole point is to write what your own heart desires, and I don't have to worry about a recipient. I've done I think 3 exchanges in the past and in every one my recipient was a complete no show, like they didn't submit fic or anything. Kinda soured me on them, although the gifts I got were AMAZING and I love them all, and I got nice comments from others.
But I don't write to spec well, and I am very critical of my own writing, so I don't like giving people something I think is sub par (which is everything I write). So events where I don't need to worry about disappointing anyone but myself are more my jam.
I wrote a fluffyish Overwatch Werewolf AU. I kept waffling on whether I wanted to go full id and do a part with an older Jesse ending up in a relationship with Gabe and Jack and ended up not having time for it anyway. Plus I kinda fucked up and submitted with the wrong AO3 account so I'm less enthusiastic about doing underage anything, even though if I were Iddy Iddy Bang Bang would be the time to do it.
Regardless of how the fic came out (coulda been better, as always) I'm glad I was able to get something cohesive published at all. I write so slowly and struggle to complete things. This isn't the first OW fic I've written though. I have another AO3 account that I was supposed to use here but, well, I'mma dumb.

I've been playing a lot of Guild Wars lately, on a free account. It's kinda mindless grinding right now. On occasion I will have to consider what I'm doing, but for the most part my brain is off when I'm playing. I've been promised things change at max level so I'm continuing on.
The writing for the main storyline is pretty rough. It feels like one cliche after another and was so predictable that when I predicted it my friends had a good laugh. But the worldbuilding is starting to grow on me a bit. And I'm starting to enjoy the cooking. I want to get all the recipes so one of their hooks has worked lol.
The combat is also a confusing mess. I was told that many essential elements of combat are never explained. Dodging feels generally terrible and it's very difficult to determine what needs to be dodged and when. Sword and board also feels bad, which is my default play style in any game generally. At the moment I'm assuming it's my unfamiliarity that's the problem here, but we'll see.
---
But the last couple of days I haven't been playing much because I've been too busy rubbernecking the Hugos wank. I feel really bad for the WSFS because they don't seem to have a clue, and refuse to get one so insistently that it's more sad than anything else. I started engaging after the few champions of reason threw their hands up and walked away but I regret it and this is basically my accountability post that I will stop. I'mma still popcorn but I'm doing it at a distance from now on.
I also told my roommates about the whole mess. (Which begins at this post if anyone is in the dark) They were thoroughly entertained. One of them is a paralegal for a patent and trademark lawyer sooooo she was extra entertained.
My basic feeling is that this is a tempest in a teakettle, nothing will come of it, no harm will be done, beyond some people being angry at some other people. A complete non-issue blown up by some very insecure people. That's all.
A big link compilation, for my own future reference: https://elf.dreamwidth.org/814715.html
