New Year Hmmm
Jan. 5th, 2019 08:01 pmWell, I don't know if I'm going to start posting much because I clearly have not been before. I didn't even post anything on tumblr either. But I guess short updates won't hurt. I'm just used to an old blogging mentality where you need to write something substantial or not at all. And not at all becomes the path chosen with increasing frequency as a result.
So, in brief:
Christmas was pretty good. I was sick for a few days but it was expected and luckily not during Xmas eve or day. My aunt's present to us all was to book an escape room. It was my first time doing one and it was a lot of fun, but with 9 very smart people in the room a lot of us felt like dead weight. We got out with over 20 minutes to spare, haha.
For Christmas I got 13 (13!) pairs of socks, some cat tea infusers, a little ramen puzzle, a tea bowl, and a cute little Zenyatta figure that I broke immediately!
In an attempt to learn how dreamwidth's native hosting works I took a picture. It's kind of a pain in the ass to set up tbh. I'll probably stick to imgur or something. Cuts are kind of annoying too since they seem to eat all code inside them. I don't remember this being a problem on my side blog... We'll see if it's all messed up. It looks like the problem is moving from rich text to html. Best to stick to html then.

I've set some "New Year's Resolutions" for myself. They are very small and modest, but still likely to be failed because I've never once managed to keep such a resolution. The fandomy ones are:
- Read 10 books (I usually aim for 50, but last year read only 3 and am disgusted with myself so I'm starting small this time.)
- Translate a book from Japanese (I am trying to decide if I want to translate a light novel adaptation of Les Mis or a bookshop mystery)
- Write a complete CYOA (I've started so many. Soooo many)
One good thing I did keep up with was 4thewords. I got a 365 day streak and then took a break because the quality of my writing had dropped off a lot. I started up again and am at 100-some days, so that's pretty good!
