got_quietI was in Japan recently for work, which means I spent my spare time chasing down random merch.

Haikyuu
Also it's so interesting to me what properties end up with the ridiculous amount of goods. I'd say Haikyuu is far and away still the most popular. There are multiple machines for them in ever gacha corner, and at Mandrake there was nearly an entire wall dedicated to their doujin where most stuff got like a shelf it was very popular. Just nuts. Meanwhile I couldn't find any Honkai Star Rail. There was some Genchin stuff around, and at the Animate shop there was a Honkai shelf, but the options were limited. They didn't even have the entire cast, no good Dr. Ratio, Aventurine, or Sunday! So I ended up with 0 HSR goods this trip.

One of the nice little alignments of the universe is that the job that takes me to Japan every few years just happens to coincide with the NuCarnival anniversary, so I usually can get a bunch of goods straight from the Animate shop. This year they didn't have that many options that I was interested in. Everyone is so obsessed with buttons, I guess to fill itabags, and while I like seeing other people with their itabags I don't care to make that sort of thing for myself. But they had stickers and trading cards so I bought a stack of those. My gacha luck is ass. I ended up with more Blade merch than anyone else which is my least favorite clan member, and 0 Rei at all, but I also got Morvay and Qunicy stuff so in the end it evened out. I also hit up a couple of the used goods places to buy older merch and came away with Rei stuff that way. While there I saw some plushies the size of my head that they were asking 60 bucks for each!

I didn't quite manage to stick to my 1 gachapon a trip rule entirely because of how many Haikyuu machines are around and how I still hadn't gotten a single Kenma out of any of them in three trips now. That's how they get you. My luck is just too bad for this.
But because I lost control I ended up with a handful of stuff. Gacha is so ubiquitous in Japan that even in the front of eyeglass shops they have themed eyeglass cloth gachas. One was a Haikyuu themed gacha, so now I have a Keiji Akaashi eyeglass cloth. And in the conbinis there were packs of Haikyuu trading cards at the checkout, so I gave in and ended up buying two of those. I got 12 cards total and Kenma doesn't appear in a single one of them (though it is still neat to have the cards).
And then there were some mini thumb sized figma and I gave that a shot and out popped Kurou, which, ok, that's pretty close lol. But at that point I realized I needed to find some way to cut myself off and went and bought an acrylic standee of Kenma for a lot more than I usually would spend, but still less than I was spending in total when trying an failing to gamble for him. Hopefully this satisfies my gacha urges and I don't succumb next time. I'm too lazy to take pictures of them at the moment but I will eventually.
