Happy Solstice!

This sure has been a year. I adopted two new gardens, finished [community profile] inkingitout and novel-writing month, and bought both a car and a dog sled.

The dog sled is a kit that's supposed to double as a kicksled; it should arrive in a couple of weeks. (Daphne will not be pulling it. If I'm lucky she'll ride for a bit.) I just learned about kicksledding ::checks:: yesterday, so. As per usual.

Relatedly, I heard the following fun bilingualism today:

“我已经try very hard to 给我自己花钱。” ("I already try very hard to spend money on myself.")

Currently in legos I'm building a waterfall, which the box tells me will light up and move when I'm done. Despite my decades of STEM employment, my engineering experience is largely limited to assembling furniture and garden equipment. I suppose success or failure will determine whether this part of the jianghu becomes Cloud Recesses or Lotus Pier.

I found the velociraptors, by the way. And the dolphins! The dolphins are now frolicking at the foot of Baoshan Sanren's mountain. (I've already forgotten what I did with the velociraptors. They might be in the garden.) (ETA: They are in the chicken coop.)

The sky was very beautiful today.

Sometimes I hit a romance in media and I'm like well. I don't know that I'd say that I ship this. I wouldn't be sad if these people broke up. But unfortunately I do actually believe that they are in love and find it compelling to watch what happens about it ....

anyway that's how I felt about the central relationship in The Legend of ShenLi, which is a xianxia cdrama about ✨ The Greatest General Of The Demon Realm ✨ and her epic romance with -- well. For the first five or six episodes ShenLi, the Greatest General of the Demon Realm, is trapped on Earth in the form of an angry CGI chicken, in the care of a sickly human scholar who has discovered that his angry CGI chicken is in fact some sort of supernatural entity and thinks the whole situation is very funny.

Here, for the record, is angry chicken ShenLi:

and here is ShenLi and her love interest when nobody is a chicken:

This whole introductory arc is really charming. Incredibly happy for that sickly scholar and his angry bird wife. But alas! all things must end, the lovers are parted, and ShenLi The Greatest General of the Demon Realm grimly returns home to confront her upcoming political marriage to a playboy from the Divine Realm, in the full assumption that she will never see her sickly scholar again because even aside from the political pressures one day in the Demon Realm equals a year in the human realm so the time difference is not workable.

However! then some monster nonsense starts happening in the Demon Realm, and so the Divine Realm sends its last surviving actual factual god to help out -- who bears a Mysterious Resemblance to ShenLi's sickly human boyfriend .... spoilers )

But enough about the leads! Here's a short list of my other favorite people in the drama, cut for some images as well )

Between now and the 2026 round we're going to be going through all the mediums in the collection and setting up explanations of what each medium is with links to examples! While we're expecting to do most of this work ourselves, we wanted to put out a call for volunteers and opt-outs for those of you who would like to be involved or uninvolved with this sort of documentation!

For example works we will be pulling from all past rounds of FIAB! We will prioritize volunteered works first, then look for past FIAB works, then look for outside resources that are meant to be used as references.

2025 Tagset Link

Volunteering Your Works As Examples Of Mediums

If you would like to volunteer your works as examples of mediums please let us know the following:
  • Your AO3 Name
  • The work link
  • The 2025 FIAB medium tag(s) the work is an example of

Please only offer up examples if they are your own work, or if they are something that was created with the intention of being referenced such as a wikipedia or fanlore article.

Deadline: There is no deadline for offering up examples but we will prioritize any posted prior to March 1st.

Help Us Explain Mediums

If are a creator of a medium and would like it explained in a certain way, or just want to help us out with writing up all these explanations, you can post explanations for us to use! Please let us know the following:
  • The 2025 FIAB Medium Tag
  • Option 1: Short explanation of what the medium is, to be included in the spreadsheet
  • Option 2: Information about the medium that you think may be useful to us in writing an explanation of what it is
  • Option 3: Both of the above
  • Your name and if you'd like to be credited if we use your written explanation.

Deadline: Explanations are due by March 1st, as that's when we'll begin writing our own. In some cases we may not use provided explanations or may use the information from your explanation as the basis for writing it a different way.

Opt-Out of Medium List

We know some of you would prefer to not have any of your works linked from elsewhere, so we wanted to make sure you could easily opt out of this. If you would like to opt out please comment on this post (which is screened) or email us with with:
  • Your AO3 Name
  • A statement that you are opting out

Deadline: There is no deadline to opt-out. Even if you see this after the whole list is public, you may always contact us to ask us to not use your work as an example and we will remove the link. If you've already opted out of reading lists in 2025 we've marked you as opted out of being an example.

Killing Eve
baby, be gentle (it's my first time) by [archiveofourown.org profile] seabisquit (15,923 words). Eve being perfectly Eve, Vilanelle being perfectly Vilanelle, and the two of them being defenseless in the face of that.
So this is it. She’s going to kill Villanelle, and this is how it happens. To hell and fuck with everything that had happened. Their sort of half-truce in Scotland. Their agreement to not let things be boring. She is going to take that pretty, slender throat between her hands and squeeze her like a rubber chicken. “You are absolutely the stupidest, most selfish, most infuriating person I have ever met.”

“Oh, you flirt.” Villanelle smirks. She takes a few steps forward, hands on her hips.

“I’m going to—”
Kill you, her brain completes. The words won’t come out of her mouth, stopgapped by rage, leaving Villanelle a wide opening to slip through.

“You’re going to what, Eve?” She sighs in a derisive voice, sticking out her bottom lip in a mockery of a pout. “Spank me? Have I really been that bad?”

The word
spank grinds everything to a halt within Eve. It hits a switch in her, killing the rising steam in her stomach. Of course she can’t kill Villanelle. That would be silly and short-sighted. But spank her?

It could be just as effective and tremendously less permanent.

“Yes.” Eve says with bland finality. And oh, the way that word wipes the condescending smirk off Villanelle’s face and replaces it with surprise. To accentuate her point, Eve drops behind her onto the bed, sitting on the edge with her hands on her knees.

This makes for two fic recs featuring the holidays and two featuring spanking so far. Taking bets on which is gonna take the win *g*

Helen Garner "The Children's Bach" (W&N Books)

This slim novel is set in Melbourne, Australia during the early 1980s. The opening chapter presents a longtime married couple, Dexter and Athena, with their two sons, one of whom has a severe neurodevelopmental disorder. Husband and wife are close, and after a tiring day of work and caring for their children, the couple take long walks together after dark. The domesticity of this family begins to unravel with the arrival of external forces. These arise from of a chance meeting with a friend from Dexter’s past, Elizabeth. Unlike the couple, she leads a bohemian lifestyle, and soon she introduces them to a rock musician friend, Philip, and to her much younger sister, Vicki. With these new people now a part of their lives, Dexter and Athena’s relationship undergoes subtle changes, ones that threaten to fracture the foundation of their marriage.

There is no one protagonist featured in the book. Events as they take place are told from a shifting cast of perspectives, primarily those of Dexter, Athena, Elizabeth and Vicki. What makes this novel special is Garner’s precision in capturing the inner thoughts of each one. None are portrayed as good or bad; rather they are shown to be coping with life as best they can. The Children’s Bach is short enough to be read in an evening, but the lovely prose is worth taking more time to savor. First published in Australia in 1984, it has since won a growing audience worldwide. My description of the story’s plot hardly does it justice. Helen Garner is an author worth getting to know, and this novel would be the perfect vehicle with which to do so

William Maxwell "So Long, See You Tomorrow" (Vintage Classics)

William Maxwell tells a modest yet devastating story using memory as both his subject and method. His subject is his aging narrator’s revisitation of a childhood memory of a friendship ruptured by the murder of a neighboring farmer by his friend’s father. The narrator’s adult attempt to reconstruct this shocking act of violence forces him to confront his own past and his younger self. Maxwell constructs a plot around these memories that slowly accumulate feelings of unspoken guilt and withheld kindness that persist into adulthood.

Maxwell’s prose is deceptively simple, yet it is emotionally charged. Scenes of rural life in the 20’s Midwest, parental absence, adolescent confusion and even the impact on a farm dog that doubles as a beloved pet are rendered with such gentleness that their sadness arrives quietly, often well after finishing the passages. The novel’s power lies in what it refuses to dramatize, trusting the reader to feel the full measure of loss and regret.

Some may view this simplicity as a shortcoming, wanting more narrative momentum or psychological depth in the characters. Moreover, the novel’s brevity can make others feel its impact as fleeting and underwhelming. Yet, Maxwell deliberately maintains the emotional stew on simmer. In doing so, he has created a quiet, controlled novel that achieves its emotional power not through plot or drama but through reflection, restraint, and the slow accumulation of feeling.

Here's what I wrote for [community profile] ficinabox this year!

I created 5 things, including for my original assignment, a swap, and a pinch hit. This year I wrote a fic remix and tried creating some new-to-me in-universe document mediums, such as movie reviews and a list of things character is not allowed to do, all of which were fun!

Being a Thorough and Complete Liste of Things That Binky is NOT Permitted To Do (AO3 | DW)

Temporary suspension of cognitive faculties. Impaired decision-making. Heightened electrochemical response to sexual stimuli. Decreased sense of inhibition. Shortened refractory period. Excessive sperm production. Lack of impulse control.

The facts were laid out in stark black and white on the mission report. Bucky couldn’t decide if it was worse to have experienced it in the field, or to have to read through this euphemistic fucking jargon.

After a run-in with sex pollen while out on a mission together, Sam and Bucky are forced to deal with the aftermath.

Eddie flopped dramatically halfway out of the bed to fish out the lube from the disaster piles of laundry and random stuff he'd left on his floor. "I have a system," he'd airily told Steve once, after Steve'd accidentally kicked over a jar of small change, guitar picks, and thumb tacks that'd been lurking under a pair of boxers. Steve wasn't a neat freak or anything, but he didn't leave landmines hidden under his dirty laundry either.

Hanging off the bed gave Steve a perfect view of his ass, though, which was why he was distracted when Eddie said, "Oh, hey, nat twenty!"

toonami at five

It must have been around 5 PM. I was in the living room, sitting on the big wrap-around couch. My eyes were glued to channel 176. Toonami. I wanted to watch Mobile Suit Gundam, but they were playing Dragon Ball instead for some reason. Goku and Krillin were fighting each other over a stone or something. Then my dad came home. He walked into the living room, grabbed the remote, and flipped the channel. “Hey, I was watching that,” I said. But he didn’t say a word. He just sat down next to me and placed a big hand on my leg. Then we both just stared into the glow, watching the world burn.

That morning, it must have been around 9 AM, the whole lower half of my face was glittering like a rainbow, and there was a sour, metallic taste in my mouth. I was sitting Indian style in the hallway outside of class, my back to the wall. Two nurses and a teacher were towering over me. I could see a mash of students’ faces through the classroom-door window, they were all clamoring for a peek. The taller of the two nurses held out a clear, thin tube and said, “You drank this?” I nodded. “Why?” she said. I shrugged. Then my 5th-grade teacher, Ms. Brooks, chimed in, “Did one of the kids make you do it?” I shook my head. “Do you feel OK? Does your stomach hurt?” I shook my head again. Then they started talking like I wasn’t there. “You can’t just take his word for it, he’s a kid,” the shorter nurse said. “Maybe it’s slow-acting?” said Ms. Brooks. “What brand is it?” There was a pause. The taller nurse observed the tube closely. “Sakura Gelly Roll, Rainbow Stardust Glitter.” The shorter nurse nodded at this. “They’re all the rage, my daughter has a case full of them.” Ms. Brooks added, “Does it say anything else, safe for children?” There was another pause. “Nothing.” I was just sitting there, smacking my lips a little bit, trying to make the nasty taste go away, watching them go back and forth, like I was a ghost or something. “I don’t think it’s toxic,” the taller nurse said. “We can’t just assume,” Ms. Brooks responded. “Fine, I’ll call poison control.” I felt my stomach twist at the word “poison.” The shorter nurse hurried down the hall. Ms. Brooks shifted her attention toward me, “Honey, are you sure one of the kids didn’t make you do it?” Her tone was fake-sweet, manipulative almost. I shook my head again. “Then why’d you do it, honey?” I shrugged. “Well, I’m going to have to call your parents, let them know, but I’d like to be able to tell them what happened.” I looked down at my criss-cross-applesauce legs and thought hard for a few seconds, then I looked up and said, “I dunno, was trying to be funny.” She blinked. “And I wanted to know what it tastes like,” I added. She blinked again. I could tell the nurse was holding in a laugh. After a few blinking seconds, Ms. Brooks asked, “Well, did it taste good?” And no, no it did not. It did not taste good at all. It was one of the worst tastes I had ever tasted. So I shook my head at her question, smacked my lips, made a face. “Nope. Tastes real bad.” And that’s when Ms. Brooks and the nurse burst into laughter. Then Ms. Brooks held out her hand and said, “C’mon honey, let’s go get you some water, wash that taste out.” I took her hand. “Are you sure you’re feeling alright?” she added. I nodded and stood up, then I followed Ms. Brooks down the hall, a little worried about the poison.

But we didn’t make it very far before Ms. Brooks was stopped by the computer lab teacher, Mr. Wainwright. He leaned in real close and said something under his breath, at which point something changed, like some sort of heavy gloom had drifted into the hallway. Ms. Brooks looked down at me with an expression I had never seen before. I could not parse it. Was this about the poison? I was still smacking my lips and rubbing my mouth, getting rainbow ink all over my sleeve. I thought maybe I was about to get in big trouble for drinking the gel pen, or that maybe they heard back from poison control, found out that Sakura Gelly Roll was actually poisonous. I started squirming, worrying about death.

Then Ms. Brooks lightly grabbed me by the wrist and led me into the computer lab. There were about twenty iMacs in there, the translucent ones that are all rounded and colorful, and there were kids sitting behind each one, but they weren't focusing on their computer screens, no, they were focusing on something else, the small television up in the high corner of the classroom. There was something happening on the TV. Something was on fire, billowing smoke. I couldn't quite make it out. I looked at Ms. Brooks with a confused look on my face. I wanted to ask her what we were doing here, why we weren't getting anything to drink. I also wanted to ask her if I was going to die from the poison. But when I looked up at her, she was covering her mouth and tears were streaming down her face, so I asked her a different question. I asked, “What’s wrong, Ms. Brooks?”

“The world, honey,” she said. “The world’s wrong.”

I didn’t understand what she meant.

By 10 AM, we were all in the gymnasium, waiting for our parents to pick us up. The teachers were there too, congregated into little groups, murmuring while they kept an eye on us. It was weird because none of us were making any trouble like we usually do. That heavy gloom was in the air, affecting us all. We were all spread out in the gym, sitting around in our little circles, nervously fidgeting and wondering what the heck was going on. It was as if someone had released a sedative through the air vents or something. And the poison control people never came. I guess they forgot. I kind of forgot too. I had stopped worrying about death and was now worried about something else entirely, something I could not quite put my finger on. I was just sitting there in a little circle with all the other nerdy kids. They all had bad haircuts and slightly protruding bellies, and some were wearing Pokemon shirts. And none of them seemed to care that my face was a glittery rainbow, they were all too busy talking in weird, hushed tones.

So I just sat there, not saying a word, listening to the back and forth.

I wonder if anybody died. All I saw was smoke and fire and stuff. How long do we have to stay here? I heard it was aliens. Aliens aren't real, idiot. I need to go pee. Maybe it was Godzilla. Are they gonna let us play dodgeball? Godzilla lives in Japan. He could have come here. No, he couldn’t. Yeah, he could. Nuh-uh. Yeah-huh. I really have to pee. Why are the teachers acting so weird? I don’t know. It's kind of scary. Are they gonna bring us lunch? I saw Ms. Johnson praying in the hall. Why would Godzilla even come here? Maybe he got bored. Ms. Brooks was crying. Big monsters don't just get bored, that's dumb. At least we get out of school early. Anyone got any snacks? My mom’s here, see you tomorrow. My dad works till seven. Are they gonna let us take the bus? My sister is gonna pick me up, she drives a Mustang. My dad drives a BMW. So what? If they let us play dodgeball, I hope they play Cotton Eye Joe. I hate that song. My big brother and I listen to Metallica. I'm gonna go find the bathroom. I'm really hungry. My neighbor has a pet monkey who can do tricks. What's that got to do with anything? I wonder what the teachers are talking about over there. Maybe the school’s closing down for good. Yeah, I wish. Austin said it was a meteor. That’s stupid, they can deflect meteors, I saw it in a movie. You're all stupid, I heard the teachers talking, they said it was terrorists.

My ears perked up. “What's a terrorist?” I said.

The kids just looked at me with big, blinky eyes, saying nothing. They didn't know either.

The teachers eventually brought food for us to eat. They also brought out the balls and said we could play dodgeball, but no one actually played. None of our hearts were really in it. I eventually took out my cow-print notebook and started drawing. I was big into Gundam and had been watching it religiously on Toonami every day after school. I was working on a full-page spread of little Gundams battling each other in a massive city. There were little robots on the buildings, lasers streaking through the cloud-bubble skies, beam sabers clashing over the roads, stomped cars in the streets, explosions all over the place, little stick-figure people with jagged speech bubbles reading, “RUN, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.” I was about halfway done with the drawing when my dad showed up. It must have been around 4 PM. I was one of the last kids to leave.

The car ride was weird. My dad wasn’t listening to the hard-rock station like he normally does. He was listening to some news broadcast. A woman was talking in a very sad tone. "The blaze has only intensified over the last several minutes. At this hour, there is still no word on the status of the search-and-rescue teams who entered Building 7 earlier this afternoon. Our prayers go out to those brave first responders and their families. Reporting live, we will bring you updates the moment we have them.” The woman paused for a while, then she said, “Dear God, bless America." My dad only shook his head and turned the radio off, only the hum of the engine and the bump of the road remained. My dad wasn't saying a word. He didn’t even ask about my rainbow face. So, wanting to break the uncomfortable silence, I started asking him questions.

“How'd you know to pick me up?”

“They called me, kiddo.”

“Oh, what took you so long?”

“I was showing a house on the other side of the city.”

“Is it a big house?”

“It’s big enough.”

“Why are they closing the school?”

“They didn’t tell you?”

“Austin said it was a meteor.”

“Austin said that?”

“And someone else said it was aliens.”

My dad only shook his head, then he said, “Maybe that would’ve been better.”

“What do you mean, Dad?”

“Better than the truth.”

I didn’t understand what he meant.

When we pulled into the downstairs garage, it must have been around 4:30 PM. My dad said he had a few errands to run, so he dropped me off and told me to make myself some lunch. When I entered the basement through the garage, the house felt different, but my dog, Freddy, was waiting for me at the top of the stairs like he always did, wagging his tail like mad, happy to see me as usual, like it was just another normal day for him. So I got on all fours and climbed up the stairs real quick like a wild animal, like I usually do, and I pounced on him at the top. We wrestled a little bit, but my heart wasn't really in it, so I stopped short and just lay on the floor, looking up at the ceiling. Freddy started licking my face for almost a whole minute, like there was something tasty on there, and I just let him do it because why not.

Next thing I did was, I went to the bathroom, and after taking a leak, I looked at myself in the mirror. I noticed the rainbow was gone and realized why Freddy had been licking me for so long. Then I went into the kitchen and made some Easy Mac. The instructions say to leave the water in after microwaving the pasta, but I always poured it out and added milk instead. It tasted better that way. I sat in silence in the kitchen, eating my mac and cheese. It tasted good, but I didn’t eat it all. There was something weird going on with my stomach, and it wasn’t the gel pen, it was something else, something I didn’t understand. When I was done, I put the bowl on the floor and let Freddy eat the rest. He really liked that. Then I looked at the kitchen clock and realized Gundam was about to come on, so I rushed out of the kitchen.

A slideshow of catastrophe flashed across my eyes. Images of people screaming and buildings burning and towers falling played on repeat, over and over again. It looked like a scene from Mobile Suit Gundam, but real life. A woman stood in front of it all, speaking directly to the camera. She kept saying things like “unthinkable horror” and “World Trade Center” and “national tragedy and “ground zero” and “Boeing 767” and “no survivors” and “day of mourning” and “terrorist attack.”

At that last one, my ears perked up, so I turned to my dad.

“Dad?”

“Yes, son?”

“What’s a terrorist?”

He thought about this for a moment.

“Is it like a bad guy?” I said.

“Something like that.”

“What’d they do?”

“They hurt a lot of people, son.”

“Why’d they do that?”

He thought about this for a moment, too.

“Did we do something bad to them?” I added.

“It’s complicated.”

“Tell me.”

He paused for a moment, then he said, “They hate us.”

“Why would they hate us, what did we do to them?”

“It’s not that simple, son.”

I didn’t understand what he meant.

We didn’t say anything for a while after that. We just sat there, watching the world burn. But eventually, getting bored, I turned to my dad and said, "Guess what?”

“What?”

“I drank a gel pen today.”

He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. “What? Why would you do that?”

“I dunno. I wanted to see what it tastes like.”

He blinked. “Well, did it taste good?”

“No, it taste real bad.”

And at that, he smiled, then he let me watch Toonami for the rest of the night.

145 g tapioca starch
72 g sorghum flour
72 g millet flour
170 g granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp xanthan gum
1/4 tsp fine salt

160 g non-dairy milk (175 ml)
150 g non-dairy yogurt (5.3 oz)
100 g neutral oil (1/2 cup)
2 large eggs (~100 g out of shell)
1/4 tsp almond extract

215 g fresh raspberries, rinsed and drained

Here's some more recent DecRecs!

Day 18
Today is one of those days where I really wish I was capable of napping. But since that isn't going to work I'm planning on spending some time curled up on the sofa with an ereader full of fic an hopefully a cat on my lap
So for today's #DecRecs I want to rec one of my favorite fics ever "on a long journey" by twigofwillow
https://archiveofourown.org/works/29819775/chapters/73366473

This is a Lan Sizhui centric post-canon CQL fic and It's really the best!

Things I love about "On a Long Journey":
*It's beautifully written
*The characterization is so perfect!
*The way the story is non-linear and includes. memories, stories and letters (Jiang Cheng's letter is so funny and pitch prefect)
*found family and good feelings while still letting people be complex and messy!

Day 19
For today's #DecRecs I have a really cool boardgame that I first played this year Vantage by Designer Jamey Stegmaier
basically your party crash lands on an alien planet and you are all in different locations, represented by illustrated cards. You can tell the other people about the cards but not show them the cards

It's very fail forward game, so you kinda wander around and interact with the environment and maybe complete some goals. There's lots of cool stuff to do! Once I have taken a child on an adventure, almost gotten eaten by a dragon, and stolen a flying vehicle!

Hi, welcome to this week's instalment of the Guardian drama Slo-Mo Rewatch! Watch half an episode a week, and then come and chat about it here in comments. Or you can just jump into the comments without rewatching, of course!

Here is last week's half-episode. On to the second half!

Episode 8, from 22:19:

Summary: In Dixing, the Regent sends a smoke message. In Haixing, Shen Wei pours his drunk mentor into car and then finds Zhao Yunlan ill on the kerb. He takes him home in a taxi (where he serves as a pillow), then discovers Zhao Yunlan's disaster apartment (featuring: wine bottles, dirty dishes, THE FRIDGE). During the night, Zhu Jiu finds the pillar with the Mountain-River Awl, but can't approach it. Meanwhile Shen Wei discovers that Zhao Yunlan asked Dixing about him and the Regent is ratting him out. He alters the message. In the morning, Zhao Yunlan wakes up to a tidy flat and Shen Wei sitting next to his bed. He tries to recruit Shen Wei for the SID again, but fails again. Wang Zheng sees a newspaper report about an earthquake in the Hanga mountains, passes out and regains her memory. Da Qing comes to tell Zhao Yunlan and finds Shen Wei there in the early morning. The Sundial begins to glow and resonate with the Awl; Lin Jing traces the source to the mountains.

Wang Zheng is passing out

Quote:

Shen Wei: "I suggest you eat regular meals. I don't want to find you on the road again."

Zhao Yunlan: "If you want to know whether I eat regular meals, why don't you just join ourSID, and you'll know?"

Shen Wei: "So your SID doesn't need a consultant, it needs a nanny?"

Detail:

I always notice that when Shen Wei takes off Zhao Yunlan's boots, he accidentally slips one of Zhao Yunlan's socks off his heel and doesn't pull it back up, argh! :p

Questions:

What's going through Shen Wei's head in the taxi? How is Zhao Yunlan feeling about Shen Wei taking him home? What's your favourite detail in Zhao Yunlan's flat? What's Shen Wei's favourite detail? Why do you think Zhao Yunlan keeps trying to recruit Shen Wei after Shen Wei has refused more than once? Do you think Shen Wei is seriously hoping to warn Zhao Yunlan away from leaving Dragon City? Why is Da Qing surprised to find Shen Wei with Zhao Yunlan in the morning? Why does Wang Zheng try to leave the SID? Any thoughts about how any of this compares to the novel? Or about parallels with other parts of the drama?

(These are all just conversation starters - feel free to answer all, some, or none, and to say as much or as little as you like! You don't have to be keeping up with the rewatch to join in!)

For the next two weekends, we're taking a break for the holidays - time to catch up on the rewatch, if you've been meaning to! Regular posts will resume on 9 January.

Here is our schedule for the current batch of episodes - please do sign up to host a post if you can!
